Private oil and gas investment

A field keeps its own record.

We read that record before we commit capital.

01 What Midwestern is

Investment begins with the asset.

Midwestern evaluates interests in American oil and gas properties at the asset level — geology, production history, development cost, operating structure and risk.

Our work begins with the underlying record: well files, production data, geological information, lease position and the economics required to develop the opportunity.

We prefer evidence over narrative and investments that can be understood from the ground up.

Capital follows the record.

Before participating in a development, we examine the drilling and completion records, production history, geological information, lease position, offset wells and current development assumptions.

Historical production cannot predict the result of a future well. It can, however, provide something an undeveloped prospect cannot: an observable field record.

05 Position

We would rather hold a smaller interest in a field we understand than a large one in a field we don't.

We prefer assets that can be visited, economics that can be checked and evidence over narrative.

We underwrite with a long-term ownership perspective.

The record determines whether we proceed.
